Located between the mountains is the town of Yesa, which is characterised for its emblematic water reservoir. The Yesa reservoir is perfect for relaxing on a warm day and go for a swim or do water sports on our first stop towards our destination of Yesa.
Yesa is located in the mountain range of Leyre, which is where the Monastery of San Salvador de Leyre (9th Century) is located less than 4 km away from the town centre. This is one of the most important monasteries in Spain because of its history and architecture. Although at first it was built as a Benedictine location, it was subsequently owned by Cistercian monks. In addition to its architecture and construction, its surroundings make this monastery a very special place filled with vegetation with beech and scotch pine woods, oaks or fauna such as the bearded vulture.
Another one of our stops at Yesa is the Church of San Esteban, where we can view its old paintings and where we can enjoy the rich culture of the area.
