So much cultural wealth in Navarre and so close to Gallipienzo! The archaeological cites of Santa Criz de Eslava is located just 15 minutes away. This is the most important preserved Roman city in Navarre and one of the most important sites in the northern part of the peninsula. In this territory of the Mid Area of Navarre, which is also wine country, we can take tours of some of the bodegas (wineries) in nearby towns.
After this first visit, tourists can go to the Roman Villa of Liédena, which was inhabited by the Romans between the 2nd and 9th centuries, leaving remains of a rural villa with more than 50 constructions focused on self-sufficiency with grapevines and olives, traditions that are still enjoyed today in the towns and surrounding areas, where we can stop and eat a traditional dish typical of this Navarre area.
To continue exploring the Roman culture and very close to Liédena, we find the old city of Ilumberris, known today as Lumbier, where we can learn about the past that still exists today. This town also has an important geological history, with its canyon or gorge where we can peacefully walk and practice bird watching or water sports such as canyoning, canoeing and fishing.
Make a trip to the past and have fun at Gallipienzo, the town of dreams and land with a varied culture and history. Organise more activities like this at Heredad Beragu.
