Located adjacent to Lumbier we find Liédena, a charming town with a lot of natural wealth.
If we decide to visit this town on a warm day, for our first stop we can visit the Pantano de Yesa, a reservoir located at the Pre-Pyrenees and just a few kilometres away where we can go for a swim and enjoy the beautiful views between the mountains as well as green landscapes full of diverse fauna.
For our second stop we can visit the town of Liedena, where we will find Parroquia de Santa María de la Asunción, at the top of the mountain, from where we can enjoy a great view of the Hamlet of Liedena.
Then, near Lumbier’s Canyon and over the Irati River we find the Ruins of the Roman Villa of Liédena (2nd – 9th centuries). At the time, this villa was comprised of a wine press, a wine cellar, thermaes (Roman bathing facilities) and a pond surrounding a “peristilo” or centre courtyard. The hamlet was self-sufficient and grew their own food (cereal, olives, vineyards, livestock…) and our guests can enjoy a good time learning about people’s experiences and way of life back them.
